Accelerating Family Access to Substance Use Disorder Recovery Programs through Innovative Financing and Partnership
A STUDY BY VOLUNTEERS OF AMERICa, HUMANA, & Quantified Ventures
January 2022
As substance use problems persist for pregnant and parenting women, medical professionals recommend that integrated treatment programs that combine on-site prenatal care, parenting and children’s services, as well as addiction and recovery services are sorely needed. However, because family-centered care does not fit neatly with a single funding source, integrated treatment programs struggle to secure and maintain funding. In collaboration with Humana and Quantified Ventures, Volunteers of America has devised a novel financing approach that pairs value-based purchasing with outcomes-based financing to sustain these family-focused recovery programs.
“Integrated treatment programs that combine substance use disorder treatment where parents and children remain together, along with pre-natal care, parenting and children’s services are sorely needed.”
