Accelerating Family Access to Substance Use Disorder Recovery Programs through Innovative Financing and Partnership

As substance use problems persist for pregnant and parenting women, medical professionals recommend that integrated treatment programs that combine on-site prenatal care, parenting and children’s services, as well as addiction and recovery services are sorely needed. However, because family-centered care does not fit neatly with a single funding source, integrated treatment programs struggle to secure and maintain funding. In collaboration with Humana and Quantified Ventures, Volunteers of America has devised a novel financing approach that pairs value-based purchasing with outcomes-based financing to sustain these family-focused recovery programs.
