WHO WE ARE
Volunteers of America services in Pennsylvania include daycare, rapid rehousing and support for veterans and their families, workforce development, mental health services, a shelter for homeless women in need, supportive living, pregnancy counseling, and transportation for the elderly and handicapped. Additionally, Volunteers of America of Pennsylvania provides affordable family housing, as well as affordable housing for the elderly, those with mental illness, and young adults, ages 18 to 25, who are struggling and at risk for homelessness.
Effectiveness, quality, and longevity are hallmarks of our programs and services. Caring, compassion, and commitment are the consistent characteristics of our staff and volunteers.

Affordable Housing
Finding a place to call home is not such an easy task for millions of Americans. But for more than 40 years Volunteers of America has helped thousands of people find a home—a place where they can feel safe, warm and secure, with caring people nearby who will help them when they need it.
Children, Youth & Families Program
Volunteers of America provides high quality, innovative services for disadvantaged and disconnected children and youth.
Developmental Differences
Volunteers of America provides nationally recognized programs that support people with disabilities.
Community Enhancement Services
Strengthening communities is Volunteers of America’s primary goal, by providing help to those in greatest need. We offer community programs that include volunteer opportunities, information and referral, special events and other services.
Elderly Programs
Growing old should not be a worry. Many of the elderly often feel unsafe staying alone, and in some cases, they cannot afford to live alone. Volunteers of America offers safe, attractive, affordable housing for eligible seniors. Developed, owned and managed by Volunteers of America, the apartments, patio homes, and furnished residences offer access to important community services to help residents maintain their independence.
Supportive Services for Veteran Families
The Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program funded by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs provides low-income veteran families with services aimed at preventing homelessness and improving their stability. Serving Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lebanon, Lancaster, Perry and York counties.
Mental Health Services
Volunteers of America of Pennsylvania provides services and supports to people in Dauphin County and Luzerne County with mental illness. We provide affordable housing and supportive living programs for people with a severe mental illness. Sometimes these individuals enter our services in nontraditional ways, maybe through homelessness, substance abuse, or tragically, the corrections system.
Homeless Services
Volunteers of America works to prevent and end homelessness through a range of support services including eviction prevention, emergency services, transitional housing, outreach services and affordable housing. Once we engage homeless individuals, we stay with them for as long as it takes to return them to self-sufficiency.
