A Community Safety Net

Man putting fruit into packed lunchesVolunteers of America strengthens community life through a variety of community programs that provide a safety net for individuals and families who are at risk of homelessness, hunger, and other life crises.  These services include seasonal giving and community events, thrift stores, the Scholastic Book Grants Program and collaboration within the faith community.  A wide range of special events and services including holiday meals and gift giving programs are also provided.

Every day, these populations of our communities go unnoticed by society at large. But what kind of society are we if we don’t help those who need our help the most? We believe that by assisting those in need – both physically, mentally and spiritually – and helping them to reach their full potential, our communities becomes stronger and the lives of each and every member become better.
