September 11th - A National Day of Service and Remembrance

This day marked the culmination of the 81-day United We Serve campaign to promote service as a way of life for all Americans. Volunteers of America was part of a commemoration of this day in New York sponsored by the Obama administration, ServiceNation, MyGoodDeed and the Corporation for National and Community Service.

The creation of this National Day of Service was included in The Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act, which supports Volunteers of America and other service-oriented organizations by creating and expanding programs that foster community service. Learn more about our Volunteer Opportunities.
