The Help the Homeless Walkathon

The Help the Homeless Walkathon is a wonderful tradition here in Washington and each year raises much needed awareness and funding for one of the most serious human service challenges we face in here in the nation’s capital,” Gould said.

Volunteers of America Chesapeake runs 13 programs throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, which support the area’s homeless population. Through these services, Volunteers of America Chesapeake assists thousands of adults and children each year with programs that not only provide shelter but also offer programs to allow these citizens to re-establish themselves and once again become self-sufficient.

Last year, more than 16,000 walkers participated in the Walkathon and raised more than $5 million to benefit 164 metropolitan Washington, D.C., area homeless service providers.
