Many people don’t realize that homeless people live in our nation’s airports. However, Volunteers of America Greater New York staff understand this problem all too well. That’s why they developed an innovative outreach program at both LaGuardia and Kennedy Airports. Our staff visits the airports, every day, to find homeless persons in need of assistance and work to move them into housing. According to one outreach worker, "'People look at us as life rescuers. That's what I was told once by a lady, 'You save lives.'"
